Melrose’s Fourth and Fifth-grade students are the new members of this year’s St. Petersburg Pelican Rugby Team. Rugby is a game similar to Football. Rugby is a closed contact team sport, played with an oval shaped ball and at a rectangular field.
One of the differences between football and rugby is that the ball can only be thrown or handed off backwards when carried in hand. Da’roddrick, pictured on the far left, with Coach Stotts and Devin to his right side, have won 2 games out of 3 games so far. The season will not be over until end of April. Darrel, pictured on the far right, plays with the same U12 team, however, a different field.
